This Editorial Policy sets out the principles and procedures that guide every piece of content published by TheUKDaily.uk. It applies to all articles, briefs, explainers, opinion pieces, reviews, sponsored content and any other material appearing on the site. Our commitment is to accuracy, fairness, independence and transparency. Every article is subject to human editorial oversight; no content is published without review by an editor.
Editorial Process
All editorial content is reviewed by an editor before publication. The editor checks for factual accuracy, clarity, appropriate sourcing, adherence to house style and compliance with legal and ethical standards. For stories that involve particular sensitivity or risk of harm, additional scrutiny is applied by the Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves. Sensitive stories include:
- Political reporting and coverage of Parliament, government policy, elections and public affairs
- Legal matters, including court reports, litigation and regulatory action
- Health-related stories, public health guidance and medical claims
- Financial claims, investment advice and consumer finance tips
- Stories involving minors or vulnerable individuals
- Privacy-sensitive reporting, including use of personal data or images
- Public safety issues, emergencies and crime reports
- Rights-related matters, including discrimination, equality and human rights
In such cases, the editor and Oliver Reeves review the article together before it is scheduled. No story is rushed without these checks. The Managing Editor, Rebecca Haines, oversees the daily publishing schedule and ensures the process is followed consistently.
Clear Distinction Between Content Types
Readers must be able to distinguish independent journalism from opinion, analysis, promotion and advertising. TheUKDaily.uk uses explicit labels for each content type:
- News: factual reporting of events, developments and statements. Written by staff correspondents or contributors under editorial direction.
- Opinion: articles expressing the views of the author. Clearly marked as “Opinion” at the top and in the article metadata.
- Features: longer-form narrative or analytical pieces that provide context and depth.
- Reviews: critical assessments of products, services, books, films, television, music or events. Labelled as “Review”.
- Explainers: background guides that clarify complex topics. Labelled as “Explainer”.
- Sponsored content: material commissioned or paid for by a third party. Clearly labelled “Sponsored” and written or reviewed to meet the same editorial standards, with full disclosure of the commercial relationship.
- Affiliate content: articles that contain affiliate links. Disclosed at the point of the link and in a prominent note at the start or end of the article.
- Promotional material: any content that is primarily advertising or marketing is marked as “Promotion” and is not written by the editorial team.
Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. Our Sponsored Content Policy and Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure provide further details.
Article-Level Transparency
Every article includes clear metadata to help readers assess its credibility and timeliness:
- Bylines: the name of the writer, linked to their profile on the Our Team page.
- Publication date and, where relevant, a last-updated date.
- Editor/Reviewer labels: for sensitive stories, the name of the reviewing editor is noted at the foot of the article.
- Source references: we name sources wherever possible, including documents, interviewees, public records, official data sets and verified social media posts.
- Disclosures: articles include a note if the writer attended a public meeting, conducted an interview, visited a site, reviewed a product or event, or accessed material through a press conference, press release or government document.
- Correction notes: any substantive correction is recorded at the top or bottom of the article, with a link to our Corrections Policy.
Experience Signals
To help readers understand the basis of our reporting, articles include an “Experience” box or similar note specifying the nature of the coverage. For example:
- “This article is based on a public meeting attended by the writer.”
- “Based on an interview conducted on [date].”
- “Based on a site visit by the writer.”
- “Based on a government or parliamentary document.”
- “Based on a public record.”
- “Based on a press conference attended by the writer.”
- “Based on an official press release.”
- “Based on a verified social post.”
- “Product/event reviewed directly by the writer.”
These signals are not applied mechanically but are used where they add meaningful context for the reader.
Independence and Funding
TheUKDaily.uk is operated by Crown Quay Media Ltd., registered in Gibraltar. The editorial team operates independently of commercial and political interests. Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, content licensing and event partnerships. No funding source influences editorial decisions. Full details are available in our Ownership & Funding disclosure and our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
Use of AI and Automation
Digital tools, including artificial intelligence, may be used to support research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries, transcription and content review. All published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor. AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Our AI & Automation Policy sets out the boundaries and safeguards.
Attribution and Named Writers
All editorial content carries a named byline wherever possible. Opinion pieces are attributed to the author. Contributors are drawn from staff correspondents, freelance journalists and subject-matter experts. Each writer’s background and areas of coverage are detailed on the Our Team page. Where a piece is produced collaboratively, the byline reflects the principal writer(s). Anonymous or pseudonymous content is not published except in exceptional circumstances approved by the Editor-in-Chief and separately disclosed.
Complaints and Corrections
We take accuracy and accountability seriously. If you believe an article contains an error, breaches editorial standards or raises ethical concerns, please contact our complaints team. Our Complaints Procedure explains how we investigate and respond. Corrections are published promptly and linked from the corrected article. Our Corrections Policy provides further detail.
