The UK Daily is committed to accuracy, fairness and transparency in all of our journalism. We aim to correct significant errors promptly and clearly, and to acknowledge mistakes openly. This Corrections Policy sets out how we handle corrections and how you can report an error in our content.
Reporting an error
If you believe an article, news brief, opinion piece, explainer or any other content published on The UK Daily contains a factual error, please contact our corrections desk by email at corrections@theukdaily.uk.
To help us investigate efficiently, please include:
- The full headline and URL (web address) of the article in question.
- A clear description of the error you have identified.
- The correct information, with supporting evidence or sources where possible.
- Your name and a contact email address (optional but helpful for follow-up).
All correction requests are reviewed by the Standards and Fact-Checking desk under Oliver Reeves, our Standards and Fact-Checking Lead. You can find details of Oliver and the wider editorial team on our Our Team page.
How we handle corrections
Material errors
Where an article contains a significant factual error — for example, a misstated name, figure, date, key claim or misleading context — we will update the article and add a clear correction note. The note will appear at the top or bottom of the article text and follow this format:
Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated [issue]. The article was updated on [date].
If the error is substantial enough to affect the overall meaning of the story, we may also publish a separate correction notice on relevant pages or at the bottom of the article.
Non-material updates
Small additions or clarifications — such as adding a spokesperson’s quote, updating a figure to reflect new data, or including context that was available at the time of publication — will be noted with an update note (e.g. “This article was updated on [date] to include comment from the Department for Business and Trade”).
Minor errors
Minor spelling mistakes, grammatical errors or typographical corrections that do not affect the accuracy or meaning of the content are fixed silently without a public note.
Response time
We aim to acknowledge all correction requests within five working days. More complex issues — particularly those involving disputed facts, multiple sources or legal considerations — may take longer. In such cases we will update you on progress.
Serious errors and escalation
If a proposed correction raises significant editorial, legal or ethical concerns, it is escalated to Jonathan Ellery, Editor-in-Chief, for final decision. Jonathan oversees all major corrections and ensures they are handled in line with our broader editorial standards.
