At TheUKDaily.uk, we take intellectual property rights seriously. Our images, graphics, videos and other media are sourced from licenced libraries, official press releases, promotional materials provided by rights holders, embedded public social media posts, and original photography commissioned by our editorial team. Every image published is assessed for rights compliance before use, with clear attribution where required.
Our approach to images and media
We use only media that we have permission to publish or that falls within fair dealing or news reporting exceptions under UK and Gibraltar law. This includes:
- Images licenced from reputable stock photography services;
- Press images supplied by public relations agencies, government departments or companies for editorial coverage;
- Official promotional materials, such as film posters, book covers and album art, used in the context of cultural reporting;
- Embedded public posts from social media platforms (e.g. X, Instagram, YouTube) where the original content is publicly accessible and the embedding does not infringe terms of service;
- Original photography taken by our staff or commissioned contributors.
We do not knowingly publish unauthorised third‑party images. Where a creator or rights holder is not explicitly credited, we have nonetheless satisfied ourselves that use is lawful. Attribution is managed by our standards desk, which can be contacted via the Our Team page.
Rights assessment before publication
Before any media is published, our editorial team – led by the Standards & Fact‑Checking Lead – verifies the source, checks for any usage restrictions, and ensures that appropriate credit lines are added. Where an image requires a licence, we confirm it remains valid. If a rights holder requests a particular attribution format, we comply. This process applies equally to editorial photography, illustrations and embedded videos.
How to submit a copyright or takedown request
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been used on TheUKDaily.uk without proper authorisation, or if you wish to request correction of a credit or removal of an image, please email copyright@theukdaily.uk. To help us process your request quickly, please include:
- The exact URL(s) of the page(s) where the content appears;
- A clear description of the copyrighted material (e.g. “photograph of [subject] taken by [photographer]”);
- Proof that you own the rights or are authorised to act on behalf of the rights owner (such as a copyright registration, contract, or a statement from the original creator);
- Your reason for the request (e.g. unauthorised use, incorrect attribution, removal required due to a change in licence);
- Your full name, organisation (if applicable), email address and telephone number for follow‑up.
We treat all submissions in confidence. You do not need to provide a physical signature, but we may request additional verification if the claim is unclear.
Our response process
Once we receive a takedown or correction request, our standards team will review it within five working days. We will:
- Assess the validity of the claim against our records and usage rights;
- If the claim is substantiated, remove the content promptly, replace it with appropriately licenced material, add or correct the credit, or make such other amendment as is necessary;
- If the claim is not substantiated, we will explain our reasoning and offer to discuss further.
Where removal is agreed, we will keep a record of the action for compliance purposes. Corrections to credits or captions will be implemented with a note on the article indicating the change.
All image‑related queries and corrections are coordinated by the standards desk. For general contact information, see our Contact page.
