TheUKDaily.uk takes editorial accuracy and accountability seriously. If you believe we have published material that is factually incorrect, misleading, or otherwise fails to meet our editorial standards, we encourage you to submit a formal complaint. Our complaints procedure is designed to be straightforward, transparent, and responsive, ensuring every concern is properly reviewed and answered.
How to submit an editorial complaint
Please send your complaint by email to complaints@theukdaily.uk. We aim to acknowledge receipt within five working days. If your complaint is complex or requires detailed investigation, we may need additional time to review it fully; in such cases we will inform you of the expected timeline.
What to include in your complaint
To help us process your complaint quickly and fairly, please provide the following information:
- The full URL (web address) of the article in question
- The publication date of the article
- A clear statement of the reason for your complaint (for example, factual error, misleading headline, omission of context, or breach of editorial standards)
- The specific statement, claim, or section you are challenging, quoted or described precisely
- Supporting evidence – for example, documents, links, screenshots, or other sources that demonstrate the alleged error or shortcoming
- Your full name and a contact email address or phone number so we can reach you with our response
Anonymous complaints may be considered, but providing your details helps us conduct a thorough review and communicate outcomes effectively. We treat all contact details in confidence and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
How we handle complaints
Once we receive your complaint, the Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves, will oversee the initial review. Our team will:
- Acknowledge receipt within five working days
- Assess the complaint against our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy
- Gather relevant editorial notes, source materials, and any documentation
- Determine the appropriate outcome, which may be one of the following:
- Correction: a formal correction is published with an explanation of the change
- Clarification: additional context or a note is added to the article
- Update: the article is updated to reflect new information
- Removal: in rare cases, the article may be taken down
- No action: if the complaint is not upheld, we will explain our reasoning
We will notify you in writing of the outcome and the steps taken, including any changes made to the article. For complex or serious matters, the Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Ellery, may be involved in the final decision.
Escalation to the Editor-in-Chief
If you are dissatisfied with the initial response, or if your complaint relates to a matter of significant public interest or potential editorial misconduct, you may escalate it directly to Jonathan Ellery at jonathan.ellery@theukdaily.uk or by telephone on +44 20 4587 6411. He will conduct a further review and provide a final response on behalf of the publication.
Distinction from corrections and privacy concerns
This complaints procedure is for editorial matters only. If you are reporting a factual error that does not require a formal complaint process, you may instead use our Corrections Policy page, which outlines how we handle and publish corrections. For concerns about personal data, data protection, or privacy, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
For general inquiries, advertising, or other non-editorial matters, please visit our Contact page.
