We rely on the public, experts, officials and organisations across the United Kingdom to tell us what is happening in their communities, workplaces and institutions. If you have a story, a document, a tip-off or a concern that you think we should investigate, we want to hear from you. This page explains how to share information with The UK Daily, what we are looking for and how we handle what you send.
What makes a good tip
A strong tip is specific, verifiable and in the public interest. We are particularly interested in:
- Government decisions – policy changes, legislative moves, departmental spending, regulatory actions and their effects on people and businesses.
- Public spending – waste, efficiency, procurement decisions, contracts, subsidies and how taxpayers’ money is used.
- Business closures and openings – major retailers, manufacturers, local employers, high‑street changes, new ventures and economic shifts.
- Consumer issues – pricing, product safety, scams, utility problems, financial services, housing, transport and anything that affects household budgets.
- Public services – schools, hospitals, policing, social care, transport, libraries, councils and how they serve the public.
- Community developments – planning decisions, local campaigns, cultural events, infrastructure projects, neighbourhood changes.
- Things affecting daily life across the UK – from weather‑related disruption to cost‑of‑living pressures, employment conditions, digital services and legal matters.
We welcome tips on national issues and on regional stories that have wider significance. If you are unsure whether something is a story, get in touch and we will assess it.

What to include in your tip

- What – a clear description of the event, decision, problem or development.
- When – dates, times, deadlines or expected timing.
- Where – location, region, constituency or specific site.

If you need guidance on what “off the record” means in our newsroom, please ask before sending sensitive information.
How we verify tips
Every tip we pursue goes through our standards and fact‑checking process, led by Oliver Reeves, our Standards & Fact‑Checking Lead. We do not publish rumours or unconfirmed claims. Our team cross‑checks sources, documents, official records and, where appropriate, speaks to multiple parties. You can read more about our approach on our Sources & Standards page and our detailed Fact‑Checking Policy. We never present speculation as fact, and we correct any errors promptly under our Corrections Policy.
Confidentiality and your data
We take your privacy seriously. If you wish to remain anonymous, we will protect your identity to the fullest extent possible. For legal or compliance concerns, you can contact our legal team at legal@theukdaily.uk. All information you share is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will not disclose your identity without your consent unless required by law.
What happens after you submit
We aim to acknowledge receipt of every tip within five working days. If we need more information or decide to pursue a story, we will contact you. Because of the volume of submissions, we cannot guarantee that every tip will be followed up, but we will read and consider each one carefully. If you have not heard back within five days, you are welcome to send a follow‑up to the relevant email address or use our general Contact page.
Corrections
If you believe we have published inaccurate information based on a tip or from any source, please email corrections@theukdaily.uk. We investigate all correction requests under our Corrections Policy.
Thank you for helping us report responsibly on the issues that matter across the United Kingdom.
